The Duchess of Cornwall urges people 'pull back the shroud of silence'

The Duchess of Cornwall urges people 'pull back the shroud of silence' that surrounds domestic violence The Duchess of Cornwall has encouraged individuals to "draw back the cover of quiet" that encompasses aggressive behavior at home. Camilla stood up as she was joined by big name campaigners Sir Patrick Stewart, Julie Walters, Alesha Dixon and Jamelia Davis at a gathering for survivors of household misuse at Clarence House. She told visitors, including legislators and police delegates: "Household misuse remains a shrouded issue in our general public. It is described by quiet – hush from the individuals who endure, hush from people around them and quiet from the individuals who execute misuse. This quiet is destructive: it leaves ladies, youngsters – and men - conveying the weight of disgrace, it keeps them from standing up about their misuse and it keeps them from getting help. What's more, even under the least favorable conditions, it can be lethal."
