For Earl Spencer, an Englishman's home is his bouncy castle

For Earl Spencer, an Englishman's home is his bouncy castle read the full story: http://bit.ly/29hluqO When the State Dining Room was added to Althorp in 1877, the 5th Earl Spencer modelled it on the ballroom of Buckingham Palace, hoping it would attract royalty and the very cream of society. Almost 140 years later, the current Earl’s Canadian wife has found a rather different use for it: as an indoor soft play area. The former Karen Gordon, who became Earl Spencer’s third wife in 2011, has installed a large bouncy castle in the silk-lined dining room for the couple’s three-year-old daughter Lady Charlotte. Nor is that the only change she has made. The 44-year-old Countess has also begun a major facelift of the 508-year-old stately home, saying: “This idea of having guests walk across a hallway to use the bathroom isn’t really working for me.”
